    Abstract

SOUX, María Luisa. ¿Female worlds? The spaces of sociability of women in the city of La Paz in the early nineteenth century. Estudios Bolivianos [online]. 2014, n.21, pp. 31-47. ISSN 2078-0362.

Abstract This article seeks counterpose the historical study of diverse spaces of sociability in which some women from the Díez de Medina family lived in the early nineteenth century in La Paz, and one of the theories about women's history, the Theory of Sexual Difference, which raisesthe need to establish the point of view from which we write and the need to chan-ge the paternalistic "symbolic order" to another linked to the mother. I propose initially some guidelines of the theoretical raised, and subse-quently, I describe female spaces, concluding with a reflection on the use of this theory and its relevance in the study about women's history.

Keywords : Spaces of sociability; Theory of Sexual Difference; Wo-men's History.
